Updated: Jun 29, 2020

Incorporating a self-care regime catered to you is so important to maintain in your lifestyle. Suffering with hair loss has naturally decreased my self-confidence and self-care is one of the parts of my routine that really helps me boost it up on the days I feel low.

Here are a few examples of the benefits of self-care:

INITIATES SELF-LOVE

Taking time out for self-care with the purpose to do something that solely aids you and your mood, is an act of self-love. This aids a better and healthier relationship with yourself as you’re placing yourself among the many other priorities you may have.

BOOSTS CONFIDENCE AND SELF-ESTEEM

The methods of self-care that you choose are likely to make you feel better in mood and about yourself. Whether you’ve chose to meditate for a couple of minutes a day or do something creative as a part of your day, it’ll boost your mood. The more you make this a part of your routine, the more you’ll realize the change it has on your mental state and feel proud that you’ve made yourself a priority.

INCREASES MOTIVATION AND PRODUCTIVITY

Focusing on self-care can improve your productivity and motivation. It's about giving your whole self (mind, body, spirit) exactly what you need to function at your highest and happiest level—which can, in turn, make you more productive.

INCREASED ENGAGEMENT LEVELS

With self-care activities you are likely to have higher levels of engagement. The relaxation will provide you with the ability of increased present awareness and make you feel more connected to the world around you.

FIGHT ILL HEALTH AND FATIGUE

If you neglect looking after yourself and incorporating practices that help you to feel nourished, you are way more likely to develop fatigue/ill health especially if you are someone with a busy routine. By adding time for yourself, this will aid you to create space to prioritize self-care for your body whether that be in the form of food, TLC or general health maintenance.

Here are some types of self-care you can introduce to your routine:

1) Take time to do something you really love to do!

2) Meditate to connect with the present moment and relax your mind.

3) Re-acquaint yourself with nature. Being in an open space with fresh air can do wonders for your mental health!

4) Stay conscious and self-aware of your feelings. Write them down or self-reflect to clear your mind.

5) Exercise to relieve your stress and rejuvenate your mind!

6) Create a healthy and soothing skin care routine.

7) Take a shower/bath regularly. Add some candles or soothing oils to create a relaxing environment!

Everyone has their own methods of self-care, so find what resonates with you best. Self-care can take only minutes but create such a lasting impact, make it a priority!
